My EDGE Experience

Dear Current and Future SUU Students,

I want to encourage you to read my blog entry so you can be inspired to do your EDGE project. EDGE does not have to be something boring that you don't want to do, but it can be something you have fun while experiencing it, but also an opportunity to grow and learn a lot. I'm one of many students who can testify to the power of EDGE and the skills you can gain from it.

From February to August 2013 I worked as an Orientation Student Assistant for my EDGE Project, or Education Designed to Give Experience. While I was an Orientation Assistant, I completed a variety of different tasks including teaching lessons during the orientation leader training class, helping students and parents register for orientation, running social media contests during Orientation days, set up presentation rooms, and organizing and setting up lunch.

During my project I learned many different things including how to work more effectively as a team, about my strengths and weaknesses when I work on a team, and how I can apply the leadership lessons I learned during my project on a resume and in my every day life.

The best part of my project was getting to work with the parents because they always made me smile and because I got to help others and help relieve their concerns.

My project also helped me grow as an individual and I learned so much about event planning and the ins and out of working in student affairs for a university.

Students I want to remember that like your college education, your EDGE project is in your hands. You can make it what you want. If you still don't believe me then look at some more pictures from my project below and see the fun you can have while you're learning. Have fun with your project!
